Leading in a Complex World – What Matters Most?
Day:
Friday, September 27, 2019
Time:
12:00-13:00
Room:
Millennium 2
Description:
We live in a world of increasing complexity which we must be able to navigate well. Effective leadership starts with oneself and then extends to include and engage others. Well-established, reactive mindsets are insufficient to understand and respond effectively to complex contexts.
Self-awareness provides the data we need to regulate our own behaviors if we choose. If we can shift to a self-authoring, creative mindset, we can develop our ability to design our own behaviors. This, in turn, enables both achievement and powerful working relationships.
Research tells us that these shifts are positively correlated to leadership effectiveness and business performance. Discover what shifts are needed and what can be done, by us and our organizations, to accelerate them.
Objectives:
Participants will be able to:
- State rationale for accelerating leadership development
- Identify reactive tendencies that limit effective leadership
- Identify creative competencies that enable effective leadership
- Select one creative competency or skill to develop further

The Spiral HPI Framework Meets Agile

Friday, September 27, 2019
Time:
12:00-13:00
Room:
Dnevna
Description:
This concurrent session will use presentation and interactive discussion to combine a Human Performance Improvement Spiral Framework with Agile development and management in a session for intermediate to expert practitioners.
Organizations increasingly use Agile development and project management (often in software development) to create quick effective performance solutions. These Agile approaches rely on iterations of work that successively refine a product. Agile can lend itself to the Spiral Human Performance Improvement (HPI) framework, which attempts to capture what is happening in savvy practitioners’ heads as they move through the performance improvement process in a messy and chaotic real world. Using this framework, practitioners can make valued contributions to Agile projects and can also leverage the characteristic advantages of speed and value from Agile into the overall HPI process.
Objectives:
- Describe key components of Agile.
- Describe key components of the Spiral HPI Framework.
- Describe how to use the Agile principles to speed valued outcomes to clients while
engaging in the HPI process.

Forming Future Teams – Liberating Performance Innovation & Agility
Day:
Saturday, September 28, 2019
Time:
09:00-10:00
Room:
Dnevna
Description:
Too often we are thrown into arbitrary teams and told to just “make it work” without regard for our innate abilities. Many times, this results in a lack of cohesion and we start to view our team members as either heroes or villains. We become so accustomed to this way of working that we do not realize how this environment zaps our powers and limits our collective potential for greatness.
There is a better way to experience “work that works” by energizing the “purpose-built” teams of tomorrow using the neuroscience of teams. During this hands-on session you will discover a new window into thinking, behavior, collaboration, and action to unlock the cognitive diversity of team members and achieve peak performance.
